Sherlock Holmes Pin-up. by RodGallery Sherlock Holmes Pin-up. by RodGallery
This is a Sherlock Holmes Pin-up that I did using traditional materials like Ink, Brush and Pen.
I really love Sherlock Holmes stories meanly because of the new movies.

The Pin- up was made in comic book professional paper 11X17 inch size.

If some one would like to buy this pin-up just let me know.

And also, remember to visit my own comic book project - [link]

Cheers,

Rod.

Really enjoying it, Rod! I can definitely see the Jude Law influence in Watson, but it may just be me, but I'm picking up a Tom Baker vibe from Holmes. Nice job!

I am liking the composition you have there. What I notice as oddities are a few things. One, Watson in the background. The arm holding the club looks a bit small and his chest angle looks a bit flat on the image. If you had included an angle of the chest instead of the cutting the collar off and removing the shoulder. The is what gives it a flat look. I understand that you are trying to get the carriage to look like it is going fast down the cobblestone road yet if this is a London park, it is not going to have dirt covered cobblestones and that much dust is not going to be raised. The horses body language is totally off if it is charging down the street. the head would be upwards or downwards on a 3/4th angle as the horse is physically wrestling with the bridle. The coachman is totally relaxed. If you are driving down the street the coachman is going to have his arms mid raised at the torso and the other arm would have a whip or long crop to urge the horse on to keep a faster pace. You can get reference for this by clips of old westerns on the internet and screen shot of the image you want to reference. I would like to see more of the London skyline that was around then just the uppermost of Big Ben. I would like to see cast shadows under the newspapers to show how far they are off the ground. Lastly on the negative, I know you are trying to show texture on the cobblestones yet the way you have the cross hatching on the stones is not working. The swirls are not showing the stone texture at all and the scratch lines will work showing the shadows on the sides of the stones. you could easily show stone textures with you can put dots , stippling ink method would work better. You don't need to cover the whole object of space to show you are inking. Don't forget the power of negative space in a drawing. The ink is very clean and there is some very good shading of the tree trunks in the distance. The shading on the woman's dress is very nice. The dress needs more reference though, it looks too plain and modern. there is no stiff collar or covering at the breast area which was a fashion in the 1800s London era. You have talent that is obvious. Keep up the small details and you are going to have some keep ass work going there.

Ow, so hardcore critics, I agree with you in some ways and disagree in another way. But thanks for the critic, I will have this in mind in my next illustration.:)

It is only an opinion. No offense meant with the critique. You are skilled and that is the truth. keep the inks flowing.
